Entering the Television industry in 1998 with an episode on the comedy-romance series, Cupid (1998-1999), Vanessa Taylor is an American film and TV writer, and producer. She next served as a writer on the ABC Networks` medical drama, Gideon`s Crossing (2000-2001). Taylor also wrote and made her debut as a producer with ABC`s spy thriller TV series, Alias (2001-2006). Over the years Taylor has served as a writer on TV shows like Everwood (2002-2006), Jack & Bobby (2004-2005), Tell Me You Love Me (2007), and the worldwide hit phenomenon, Game of Thrones (2011- ). As a producer, Taylor`s film credits include Everwood (2002-2006), Jack & Bobby (2004-2005), Tell Me You Love Me (2007), The Amazing Mrs. Novak (2009), and Game of Thrones (2011- ).

In 2009 Taylor served as a writer on the TV movie, The Amazing Mrs. Novak. She made her big-screen writing debut with the hit comedy romance-drama, Hope Springs (2012). The movie was directed by David Frankel and had Meryl Streep, Tommy Lee Jones, and Steve Carell in the lead roles. Taylor was nominated for an Outstanding Film or Show Written by a Woman category for her work on the movie, at The Women`s Image Network (WIN) Awards 2012. Taylor next joined hands with writer Evan Daugherty to adapt Veronica Roth`s young adult dystopian fantasy novel, Divergent. The movie came opened in 2013 to mixed reviews, but turned out to be a hit at the box office. In 2017 Taylor worked with Guillermo Del Toro on the screenplay, based on a story by Del Toro himself. The Shape of Water (2017) opened to rave reviews and was nominated for 13 Oscars at the 90th Academy Awards. Taylor received her first Oscar nomination in the Best Original Screenplay category, a nomination she shared with Del Toro.
