Born in 30th November 1945, Vani Jairam is a playback singer. She primarily sings in South Indian languages although she has a wider repertoire. She has participated in many solo concerts in India and abroad and has also recorded several albums.
Vani is known for her voice range and her genres are ghazals, bhajans, folk and traditional classical, pop and film music. She has sung in various languages such as Tamil, Malyalam, Telugu, Marathi, Kannada, Odiya, Bengali, Gujarati along with Hindi. She has won the National Film Awards for Best Female Playback Singer thrrice and has also been awarded with the Government awards from the states of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat.
