Varun Grover is an Indian comedian, screenwriter, and lyricist who gained sudden and widespread popularity with his film Masaan (2015). An alumnus of IIT BHU Varanasi, Grover is the recipient of the Best Lyricist award at the 63rd National Film Award for the song Moh Moh Ke Dhaage. He started his career as a dialogue writer with Accident on Hill Road (2009), after which he wrote the lyrics for Gangs of Wasseypur (2012) and its sequel Gangs of Wasseypur 2 (2012). He also collaborated on the song lyrics of popular films like Fan (2016), Udta Punjab (2017), Newton (2017), Kaala (2018), Sui Dhaaga (2018) and Sonchiriya (2019). Branching out to stand-up comedy, his set `Padmaavat and the Parrot` received 12 million views on YouTube and counting. His 2021 project includes Sandeep Pinky Aur Faraar.
