In the course of a showbiz career spanning around two decades, Vijay Raaz has appeared in over eighty movies besides venturing into filmmaking with the acclaimed war drama Kya Dilli Kya Lahore (2014). The actor made his feature film debut in Bhopal Express (1999), and subsequently rose to prominence courtesy of his performance in the 2001 movie Monsoon Wedding. For his work in Monsoon Wedding, Vijay was nominated for a Zee Cine Award for Best Comedian that year.
In the years that followed, Vijay went on to establish himself as an accomplished character actor and comedian courtesy of his roles in movies like Company (2002), Run (2004) and Raghu Romeo (2004), the last of which won the National Film Award for Best Hindi Film of the year. Vijay also received the Jury Prize at the Dhaka International Film Festival for essaying the titular role in Raghu Romeo. The thriller drama Anwar (2007), the musical drama Delhi 6 (2009), Delhi Belly (2011) and the black comedy Dedh Ishqiya (2014) are some of the actor`s most notable film credits since then. Besides these, Vijay has also ventured into South Indian cinema through the Kollywood film Kaaki Sattai (2015) and the Malayalam comedy-drama Monsoon Mangoes (2015). Other significant acting credits in recent times include Kaalakaandi (2018), Hamara Tiranga (2018), Soorma (2018), Nawabzaade (2018) and Pataakha (2018). His other releases include Gully Boy (2019), Photograph (2019), Gun Pe Done (2019), Dream Girl (2019) and Officer Arjun Singh IPS (2019). Vijay Raaz`s 2020 releases include Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari, Lootcase and Gulabo Sitabo.
