Born and brought up in Mumbai, Vijay was passionate towards Music since his childhood. He took his early lessons in playing Flute from his father Shri Baburao Tambe, a known Flutist. Further, he took guidance from Late. Shri Ramakant Patil, disciple of Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia.
Known for his expertise in Indian as well as English Flute, he is the most loved musician in the Lata Mangeshkar troupe and his playing style has been appreciated by Bharat Ratna Lataji herself.
Vijay has worked with various Music Directors like Anand-Milind, Bhappi Lahiri, Laxmikant-Pyarelal, Ravindra Jain, Nikhil-Vinay, Amar Haldipur, Prashant Thackeray, to name a few
