Vikas Bahl is a renowned Indian film producer, screenwriter and director who is noted for his work in Bollywood film industry. One of the owners of the Phantom Films production house, Vikas produces films under the banner, which is co-owned by Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane and Madhu Mantena. The winner of several prestigious awards including three National Film Awards and a Flimfare Award is best known for his directorial ventures Chillar Party (2011), Queen (2014), which won him the Filmfare Award for Best Director. Apart from directing, Vikas has also worked as a producer and a screenwriter for several films.
EARLY LIFE
Vikas Bahl Born was born in Lajpat Nagar, Delhi. His father, Ravish Bahl worked with the Indian Oil Corporation and his mother is a housewife. While growing up, Vikas was a shy child and his friends called him `Fattu.` After completing his graduation from Ramjas College, Delhi, Vikas Bahl moved to Mumbai and enrolled at the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies to pursue MBA degree. Before making it big in the film industry, Vikas worked in and advertising agency and his first job was at the O&M where he worked in the client servicing sector for five years. He later joined the Radio Mirchi as the National Marketing Head before eventually moving to SAB TV where he was the Head of Business and Programming.

As a Director
While Vikas Bahl shot to fame with his directorial debut Chillar Party in 2011, his journey in the film industry started way back in 2005. His Bollywood debut was the critically acclaimed film, Black where he was part of the production crew. In 2008, he made his debut as a producer along with Ronnie Screwvala in psychological crime thriller film Aamir starring Rajeev Khandelwal. He later worked as an associate producer for several films like Udaan (2010), and No One Killed Jessica (2011) before eventually making his debut as a director with Chillar Party (2011). The film, which won the National Award for Best Children`s Film also marked his debut as a screenwriter. The film, which won wide critical acclaim was also a massive commercial hit; it grossed 65 crore INR at the box office.
After the huge success of Chillar Party, Vikas` next directorial venture was the National Award winning film Queen, a comedy-drama, which was produced by Vikramaditya Motwane, Anurag Kashyap and Madhu Mantena. The film starring Kangana Ranaut, Rajkumar Rao and Lisa Haydon garnered critical acclaim and one of the biggest hits at the box office that year. The director`s other film was Shaandaar (2015) starring Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt in the lead roles and Pankaj Kapur and Sanjay Kapoor in the supporting roles.

Vikas Bahl`s maiden production venture was the 2013 period romance Lootera, which was directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. The film starring Ranveer Singh, and Sonakshi Sinha was listed as one of the best movies of the year. His other production ventures include Ugly (2014), the critically acclaimed NH 10 (2015), the adult comedy Hunterrr (2015), Shaandaar (2016), Trapped (2017) starring Rajkumar Rao and Geentanjali Thapa and Manmarziyaan (2018) starring Abhishek Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal.
