Vinu Chakravarthy was an Indian film actor, script writer and director who primarily works in the South Indian film industry including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam films. He is noted for mostly playing comedic, villainous and supporting roles. After completing his education, Vinu Chakravarthy worked as a reserve Sub-Inspector at the Ice House police station for about six months and later he joined the Southern Railways where he worked for four years. The police inspector-turned-actor has worked in more than 1000 films and also directed one movie in which he introduced Silk Smitha. The veteran star made his on screen debut with Gopurangal Saivathillai (1982), and his other popular films include Guru Sishyam (1988), Dravidan (1989), Annamalai (1992), Pondattiye Deivam (1994), Dharma (1998), Good Luck (2000), Gemini (2002), Muni (2007), and Vaayai Moodi Pesuvam (2014). After being hospitalized for several months, Vinu Chakravarthy passed on April 27, 2017.
