Hailing from Kerala, Vivek Thomas Varghese studied at Pallokoodam High School in Kottayam before moving to Mumbai where he pursued his BMM degree from the University of Mumbai. Upon completing his graduation, Vivek started working with Viacom 18 Media Private Limited, handling the creative content of one of the media firm's properties - MTV India. After about five years of being associated with Viacom 18, Vivek worked as a Producer - Brand Solutions at The Walt Disney Company India Ltd.

Next, he joined Global United Media, a production house and also deals with distributions of movies, as an executive producer. In 2016, he was associated with the Shailesh Pandey, Dulquer Salmaan, Vinayakan-starrer Malayalam mystery action drama Kammatti Paadam as its executive producer. The following year, in 2017, he made his directorial debut with the Malayalam comedy Aanenkilum Allenkilum, which also marks his debut as a writer, featuring Fahadh Faasil and Sunny Wayne in pivotal roles.
