He made his career initially as an actor and later made his transition into the film and televisionscriptwriter. His major script works include The Spirit of St. Louis, Anatomy of a Murder and North to Alaska.He had won New York Film Critics Circle Award and has received an Oscarnominationfor his script works. He died on March 28,1992.
