William D'Souza was born in Mozambique, brought up in Goa, performed for the high school band at the age of 13 and won a state level beat contest with a band Oblivion'.
While studying in Science College he toured Europe for 5 months where he learnt western drums and came back to Goa. In 1979, he joined the German band Embryo', an experimental jazz band. He participated at the jazz festival at Berlin during this time. Later he returned to India and joined Karnataka College Of Percussions in Bangalore.
He accomplished his matersy under T.S.Mani. He taught western drums at the Kala Academy, Goa. In 1987, he won 'The Best Drummer In Goa', awarded by Goa Today Magazine.
He joined Gerard Machados Jazz Network, and performed at jazz festivals. In 1997 he performed with a Brazilian band Accuri'. In 2008 toured South Africa (Capetown and Durban).
Currently he performs at various schools and colleges, music appreciation circuits, Indian Art and Culture associations, and conducts workshops on creative awareness
using non-conventional percussions such as utensils, musical toy bat like a kanjira, sweet bottle jar used like a tabla and ghatam.
