Canadian actor, writer and director Xavier Dolan started off quite young in the entertainment industry as a child actor in commercials before becoming a part of several arthouse films. He received widespread recognition and praise for his directorial debut I Killed My Mother, which he directed and wrote when he was merely a 20-year-old, funding the same with the money he earned as a child actor. His internationally acclaimed film, led to him directing eight feature films, all of which have premiered at the prestigious Cannes film festival, except Tom at the Farm-which premiered at the 70th Venice International Film Festival in 2013. Dolan`s directorial debut in English The Death and Life of John F. Donovan, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2018. Honoured with a plethora of awards for his work, he has received the Jury Award at the Cannes film festival in 2016 for Mommy. Among his other accolades are the Canadian Screen Awards and Cesar Awards. Apart from directing, Dolan has also acted in several films including a few of his own directorial ventures. As of 2018, he is associated with Boy Erased.
