Daughter of sitar maestro Ustad Vilayat Khan and one of our festivals much anticipated headlining acts, Zila Khan is one of the finest Sufi singers in the world. The versatile songstress and her band, The Nomads, have played Kennedy Centre, Lincoln Centre and Royal Albert Hall, seamlessly weaving folk, Indian classical and ghazals with jazz, blues and world music.
When she is not singing, Zila works on various acting projects. She has acted in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani, and is the lead in a theatrical play called Gauhar, directed by Lillete Dubey. Zila is also a passionate supporter of gender equality, women's rights and the preservation of cultural heritage.
Khan and the Nomads will be collaborating with a diverse set of musicians at the festival for never before seen performances, and conducting exclusive workshops to educate audiences in musical appreciation.
