Set against the backdrop of a village election, the play explores the struggle for power between two rival political groups. Elections form the central thread that connects every character and drives the dramatic action. Adapted as a collage of 19 powerful monologues from the novel Via Savargaon Khurd, the play unfolds through bold, uncompromising voices that gradually reveal the larger narrative.
Rather than following a conventional linear plot, the story emerges through the autobiographical accounts of its characters. Their monologues expose the complexities of rural politics, shifting social realities, intimate and sexual relationships, deep rooted rivalries, political aspirations, and the fractures within families.
The play also reflects on the transformation of the Indian village. Villages that once embodied a distinct rural identity are steadily changing as ambition reshapes lives and landscapes. The movement between village and city, and the blurring of the boundaries between them, is presented as an inevitable social process.
