About The Event
Ambaa (based on Aristophanes' play Lysistrata) is a satirical drama that portrays the unity and power of women. The men are immersed in war, leaving behind family, peace, and love. Under Amba's leadership, all the women of the country resolve to put an end to this endless conflict. The war must stop. But their method is unusual-they decide that until the men stop fighting, they will deny their husbands sexual pleasure. The play demonstrates how women's willpower, solidarity, and creative resistance can lead society towards peace and love. Written in 411 BCE, this comedy, unfortunately, still remains relevant.
