
This plays depicts the final chapter of Wajid Ali Shah's historical, cultural & political administration over Lucknow city. The political reference of British annexation of the the Nawab's kingdom without the involvement of warfare is the defining plot of this play. Instead of fulfilling their duties towards their family, society, cultural identity and the their state, they become immersed in the game of chess and other pleasures. Their collective lack of responsibility enables the Britishers to invade Lucknow easily.
