Ek ruka huwa faisla is a courtroom drama in which 12 jurors are locked inside a jury room to decide the fate of an 18 year old boy accused of murdering his father If found guilty he could receive the death penalty
Initially 11 jurors vote guilty while Juror No 8 is the only one who says that he cannot make such a serious decision so quickly He believes that the evidence should at least be discussed honestly and carefully
As the discussion progresses the witnesses statements the murder weapon the timing the eyewitness testimony and other courtroom evidence are examined again Slowly they begin to realise that the evidence which initially seemed completely certain contains contradictions and reasonable doubt
But the real conflict is not only about the murder case Every juror enters the room carrying his own prejudice anger fear ego frustration and past experiences These personal emotions begin to influence the way they look at the evidence and each other
One by one the jurors begin to change their votes
The central question of the story is
Can we decide the fate of a persons life based on our personal emotions assumptions and prejudices
