About The Event
Originally written in 1972 by celebrated playwright Vijay Tendulkar, Ghasiram Kotwal is a landmark of Marathi theatre, known for its powerful exploration of power, politics, ambition and exploitation.
This new Hindi adaptation, presented by Raavan Future Productions and 33 AM Studios, Mumbai, brings Tendulkar's iconic work to the stage through a contemporary theatrical language that blends folk energy, dynamic choreography, live music and cinematic storytelling.
Set in 18th century Pune, the story follows Ghasiram, an ambitious outsider who rises to power through his association with the influential Nana Phadnavis. As ambition meets political power, the play examines the complex relationship between authority, manipulation and exploitation.
With a vibrant visual style and an energetic ensemble, this production retains the sharp social and political edge of Tendulkar's original while presenting it as a compelling contemporary Hindi theatre experience
