Godaan, generally considered Premchand’s masterpiece is a story of peasants of India. It highlights the struggle between peasants and money lenders. It depicts an agricultural community, its hard work and problems of exploitation and its misery, frustration and hope.
Godaan is considered one of the greatest novels of modern Indian literature themed around the socio-economic deprivation as well as the exploitation of the village poor, the novel was the complete of Premchand.
