About The Event
Synopsis:
Bhishma, Dhritarashtra, Pandu, Abhimanyu and Shantanu stand alongside daily-wage labourers, landless farmers, migrant workers, street children and beggars, all waiting in the same queue for the possibility of a better life. In the city, the promise of a new beginning gives way to another battlefield, where survival takes precedence over victory. Through the rhythms of begging, labour and uncertainty, the play traces the indignities endured by those living at the margins. When Mokshada sends her teenage daughter Tepi to beg for food, the violence embedded in survival becomes impossible to ignore. As Bhishma dies beneath the soil, the queue forms again, this time towards the crematorium.
