About The Event
Gujarat has a long and glorious tradition of reciting and listening to poetry. Three poets, Saumya Joshi, Anil Chavda, and Bhavesh Bhatt, have become incredibly popular while carrying this tradition forward through their poems and unique styles of recitation.
In addition to being a celebrated and successful theatre director, Saumya is well known for his poetry and lyrics in the national award-winning movie Hellaro and the widely popular Coke Studio song, Khalasi. In Choggo, he creates a novel approach to poetry presentation, inviting two poets to join him in reading poetry for this purpose, poets who are unique in being considered mahollas and street poets.
In Gujarati slang, "Choggo" refers to a boundary in cricket. The goal of this show is to evoke the same rush that occurs when a boundary is hit on a cricket field.
