Saadat Hasan Manto was one of the boldest voices in literature, fearless in exposing the brutal truths of society, partition, and human nature. Through his sharp, uncompromising storytelling, he gave a voice to the marginalized and shattered literary conventions with unmatched honesty. Manto’s work remains timeless for its raw realism, psychological depth, and extraordinary command over the human condition.
Drama ‘Manto Ki Qalam Se’ is an amalgamation of Manto’s powerful stories. First part of the play depicts the struggle, pain and agony which people faced during the partition with quick collage of stories like Khol Do and Toba Tek Singh; followed by dramatic presentation of story ‘Dhuaa’n’ and ‘Badshahat ka Khatma.’
“Dhuaa’n” is a deeply layered story where Masood’s unspoken desires, emotional unrest, and the silent pressures of society drift like smoke, slowly blurring the boundaries between reality and emotions. Whereas ‘Badshahat Ka Khatma’ is a sharp reflection of an illusionary world created by Manmohan where arrogance and authority slowly collapses under the weight of truth and reality.
