Meghe Dhaka Ghatak is an evocative bio-play that pays tribute to the legendary filmmaker Ritwik Kumar Ghatak—a visionary rebel whose art reflected the trauma of Partition and the restless search for human truth. Written by Jeet Satragni and directed by Sujan Mukhopadhyay, the play journeys through Ghatak’s life—from his youthful romantic idealism and partnership with Suroma Ghatak, to his creative struggles and cinematic brilliance in masterpieces like Meghe Dhaka Tara, Komal Gandhar, and Subarnarekha. Through a poetic montage of scenes, music, and characters from his films, the production becomes both a portrait of the artist and a mirror of a nation’s fractured soul.
