About The Event
The play Mooknayak is a powerful portrayal of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar's life and struggles, tracing his journey from childhood to his conversion to Buddhism. The narrative highlights the caste based discrimination he faced, which ignited his fight for equality and justice. Despite adversity, Ambedkar pursued higher education in America, and London, proving education is key to social liberation. However, upon his return to Baroda after his studies abroad, he faced humiliating caste based discrimination, underscoring the deep seated prejudices he sought to challenge. He became the voice of the oppressed, leading movements like the Mahad Satyagraha and Temple Entry Movement. His political activism and differing views with Gandhi on the Poona Pact showcased his commitment to dalit rights. Although he drafted the landmark Hindu Code Bill aimed at reforming personal laws, he couldn't see it passed into law during his lifetime. Ultimately, embracing Buddhism, he advocated for an end to caste based exploitation. The play depicts Ambedkar as a champion of the voiceless, emphasising education, equality, and self respect as core values.

Trivendra Kumar is a dynamic theatre practitioner with Ten years of experience, trained under renowned directors such as Joy Meisnam, Sahil Sethy, Souti Chakraborty, Dolly Ahluwalia, Teekam Joshi, Danish Hussain, and Arvind Gaur. He has completed his Master degree in 2025 from Department of Indian Theatre Panjab University, Chandigarh. As a director, Trivendra has staged impactful works including Agamemnon, Ashadh Ka Ek Din, and the thought provoking Mooknayak, reflecting his versatility and his commitment to exploring complex social and human themes. His performance skills have been equally recognized, earning him the Best Actor Award in 2020 for the play Das Hazar, directed by Jitendra Chauthani. Drawing from his rich training and diverse collaborations, Trivendra continues to evolve as a bold and insightful voice in contemporary theatre.

He is a versatile theatre practitioner, director, and actor with over a decade of experience in Indian theatre. A Master's graduate in Indian Theatre from Panjab University (2025), he has trained under renowned mentors including Dolly Ahluwalia, Nitin Sharma, Amit Sinauria, and many others. Bharat has earned multiple accolades, such as Best Actor (Youth Festival 2017), Best Director - Skit (2019), Best Director - Play Direction for Dr. Faustus (2022), and Best Direction awards in Mime and Play (2023). He has directed notable productions like Karnabharam, Panchlight, Khel, Mirza Ki Sahiba, and Parda Uthne Se Pehle, while performing in a rich repertoire including Ek Ruka Hua Faisla, Aadhe Adhure, Ashadh Ka Ek Din, Holi, Oedipus, and Nagmandal. Expanding his creative horizons, Bharat directed, wrote, and acted in the art film Canvas, appeared in the award winning film Ravi Paar, and worked as art director for acclaimed projects such as the web series Ranneeti, the film Riha, and the Best Film award winning feature Still Water, Go Deep.
