About Nirmik Cultural Centre

The Nirmik Foundation, emerging from the Yalgaar Sanskrutik Manch, is dedicated to empowering marginalized communities through culture and education. By leveraging performative arts and modern audio-visual media, Nirmik amplifies voices advocating for rights and social change. Their initiatives draw inspiration from the rich traditions of Kabir and Sant Ravidas, integrating folk `Lok Shaayari` into performances like `Rang Aman Ke` to promote constitutional values and communal harmony.

Since 2017, the Nirmik Cultural Center in Kandivali has been a vibrant hub for community engagement, offering programs that cater to various groups. The Mahila Mandal empowers women by engaging them in weekly singing sessions and discussions, enabling them to challenge systemic issues and represent their communities on broader platforms. The Nirmik Youth Theater addresses challenges faced by local youth, such as substance abuse and social indifference, by providing workshops and masterclasses in theater arts, fostering self-awareness and societal engagement. Additionally, the Nirmik Children`s Club focuses on instilling constitutional values in children through theater and singing activities, aiming to build dignity and confidence. Complementing these efforts, the Film Club curates screenings that spark discussions on complex social issues, utilizing the power of cinema to educate and unite the community.

Naatak Express is an initiative by the students of Think Big, Think Small 2025.

What is Think Big, Think Small?

"Think Big, Think Small" is a 5-week intensive training program developed by Bhasha Centre for Performing Arts, focusing on the production of live events. The course was conceived and curated by Vivek Madan and Saatvika Kantamneni. Designed to enhance participants` skills, broaden their perspectives, and expand their professional networks, the course aims to improve job prospects within the performing arts industry.

This year, the program brings together 12 emerging producers from across India. As part of their final project, the cohort collaborates to organize a public event, applying their learning in a real-world setting. This event serves as a platform to showcase their collective efforts and engage with the wider arts community.
