About The Event
Nala Damayanti, a Hindi mythological drama written in verse and prose by Gaurav Jakhu, is based on the timeless love story from the Mahabharata. It reimagines the tale as a struggle between true love and Kali, the embodiment of human vice, who is determined to prove that humanity is a flawed creation. After Nala and Damayanti marry, Kali dispossesses Nala of his kingdom, setting the two on a journey that tests the strength of their bond against forces determined to prove love itself can be broken. The play weaves together verse and prose dialogue, physical movement choreography, sound design, and light design to present the classical tale of Nala Damayanti.
