About The Event
Valmiki Pativa, a seminal bengali opera (Geetinatya) composed by viswakobi Rabindranath Tagore in 1881. The opera is widely celebrated for breaking the rigid boundaries of traditional Indian musical styles. Tagore described it as "a garland of drama based on song". The opera will be staged by eminent group "Sundar" from Santiniketan and directed by eminent personality Amartya Mukhopadhyay.
