Zaverchand Meghani was a poet, writer, social reformer and freedom fighter whose writing documented the rich traditions of Gujarat. Travelling from village to village and house to house, he gathered folk songs, stories and lived experiences, preserving them through poetry, chhand-duha and plays. His writings remain an enduring part of Gujarat’s literary and cultural heritage.
Rang Meghani brings his work to the stage through a musical presentation combining live music, narration and dramatic interpretation. A character representing Meghani guides the audience through selected works, offering context and insight into the experiences and traditions that shaped his writing.
The musical arrangements bring together folk influences and contemporary sounds, while evocative costumes, sets and visual elements reflect the cultural milieu of Meghani’s time.
