About The Event
Parineeta is a stage play based on a Bengali Novel by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay that is set in early 20th-century Calcutta, the story follows the deep childhood bond between the poor orphan Lalita and Shekhar, the wealthy son of her neighbour, which quietly blossoms into love. Their relationship faces severe strain from family debt and class pride, culminating in misunderstandings and the introduction of a wealthy suitor, Girin, before the couple ultimately overcomes societal barriers to reunite.
