About The Event
Synopsis:
In 1971, a river in the Shyok Valley became a border, dividing communities and lives that had existed together for generations. In Turtuk, Haseena falls in love with a village radio jockey who dedicates songs to her each night. When the new border separates them- he on one bank, she on the other- his voice continues to reach her across the distance. Drawn from a true story, Shyok follows this years long attempt to cross this divide, petitioning governments and searching the landscape for the man she loves. A meditation on love, longing and the borders that are drawn through landscapes, communities and lives.
