This time around, the play brings Late Tom Alter back on stage – a tribute to him on his birth anniversary on June 22. Tom Alter portrayed the lead – Bahadur Shah Zafar – in the play in all of its 59 shows before his untimely death.

This is the first-ever play on the era, aura, and errors of the Mughals.
It re-creates:
- Babur’s unexpected arrival in India
- Humayun’s awkward exit from India and the world
- Akbar’s intolerance to religious bigotry
- Jahangir’s love for wine, women, and Kashmir
- Shah Jahan’s monumental love for his wife
- Aurangzeb’s love for the best of both 'worlds’
- Bahadur Shah Zafar’s desire to be remembered as the First Emperor of Democratic India
The play is written by noted politician-writer and former External Affairs Minister of India, Salman Khurshid, and has been adapted into Hindostani by noted scholar Ather Farouqui.
Apart from Tom Alter, the play features prominent actors including Dr. M. Sayeed Alam, Harish Chhabra, Himanshu Srivastava, and others.
