The Bear by Anton Chekhov is one of the world`s most celebrated one-act comedies. It is a witty battle of pride, grief, ego, and unexpected love. When a hot-tempered creditor confronts a young widow over an unpaid debt, a fierce argument spirals into something neither of them sees coming. Sharp, fast-paced, and endlessly entertaining, The Bear proves that sometimes the thinnest line exists between hatred and love.
Presented by The Matinee Theatre, a theatre community working to revive theatre culture among a younger generation, this production marks its first English-language stage play in Lucknow, bringing a timeless classic to a new generation of theatre lovers.
The production is presented under Peshkash: The Theatre Circle at LMHA, an initiative that brings together performances, practitioners, and audiences to create an active space for theatre, experimentation, and conversation.
