The Open Couple is a sharp, witty and darkly comic exploration of marriage, love, jealousy, freedom and the complicated rules we create within relationships.
The play follows a married couple whose relationship takes an unexpected turn when the husband proposes an open marriage, one that seems to offer him all the freedom he desires. His wife, however, struggles to accept this new arrangement until she begins to discover a life, confidence and independence of her own.
That's when the rules suddenly begin to change.
Through hilarious arguments, emotional confrontations and unexpected reversals, The Open Couple exposes the contradictions and double standards that can exist within relationships. Beneath its comedy lies a provocative question: How open can a relationship really be when freedom works only one way?
