A national award-winning actor and playwright, Arun Mukhopadhyay is one of the most noted and influential playwrights from Bengal. The supremely talented thespian is known for his long-standing association with the theatre group called `Chetna` as an actor as well as a writer. Apart from being a brilliant writer and an actor, the veteran is also an author and has written many plays including classics like Marich Sangbad, which was also translated into English by Utkal Mohanty.
A renowned theatre artist, Arun has also worked extensively in the Bengali film industry. Having made his debut on the silver screen with E-Flat (1961), over the years he has starred in more than 50 films. Some of his most notable credits include Palatak (1963), Pratham Basanta (1971), Sabuj Dwiper Raja (1979), Milan Tithi (1985), Ekanto Apon (1987), Sukher Swarga (1993), Antaratama (1995), Aamaar Bhuban (2002), Sathihara (2006), C/O Sir (2013), Peace Haven (2016), Hoyto Manush Noy (2018), a Bengali drama thriller directed by Koustav Bhattacharya.
