Basu Chatterjee was an Indian director and editor born on January 10, 1930, in Ajmer, Rajasthan (India). Chatterjee started his career as an illustrator and cartoonist with the weekly tabloid Blitz, published in Bombay. He started his Bollywood career with Teesri Kasam in 1966. Over the years he went on to be associated with middle-of-the-road cinema, for his simple stories about middle-class families in urban settings. His works include popular movies such as Gudgudee (1997), Ek Ruka Hua Faisla (1986), Kirayadar (1986), Piya Ka Ghar (1972), Chhoti Si Baat (1975) etc. He passed away on 4th June 2020.
