Cher a.k.a.Cherilyn Sarkisian, Cher Bono, Sonny & Cher, Sonny and Cher, Cherilyn and Chér, is an American singer and actress. She was born on May 20, 1946 in El Centro, California, United States and she is the daughter of a truck driver, John Sarkisian, and an Arkansas-born mother, Georgia Holt. Cher's very first recording was the novelty record "I Love You Ringo", under the name of Bonnie Jo Mason in 1963. In 1964, she got married to Sonny Bono and performed with the name of Sonny & Cher in 1965, and made a difference. In 1975, she got married to Gregg Allman. She has two children with both her husbands, Chaz Bono and Elijah Blue Allman. She is the superstar entertainer of over four decade, transforming herself, her voice and adapting to variety of styles and dramatic looks, which made her the Goddess of Pop. Her creditable works are The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour, Mask, Moonstruck and Burlesque. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for films such as Silkwood (1983), Mask (1985), and Moonstruck (1987). Cher has won an Academy Award, a Grammy Award, an Emmy Award, a special CFDA Fashion Award, three Golden Globe Awards, and a Cannes Film Festival Award, among several other honors.
