Hailing from Vadodara, Gujarat, Dharmesh Yelande is an Indian dancer and choreographer, who rose to fame with the dance-reality show Dance India Dance Season 2. Informally called as Dharmesh Sir, he is known for his expertise in freestyle, locking and popping, and hip-hop dance forms. After Dance Indian Dance, he then went on to participate in quite a few dance reality shows, including Dance India Dance Li`l Masters, Dance Ke Superstars and Dance Plus.
After his successful television career, Dharmesh made his Bollywood debut with
Farah Khan`s Tees Maar Khan (2010), where he worked as an independent choreographer. In 2013, he made his acting debut in India`s first 3D dance-based film ABCD: Anybody Can Dance. The movie, featuring
Prabhu Deva, Ganesh Acharya, and Kay Kay Menon, was a huge success, both critically and commercially. Later, he starred in the sequel of ABCD: Any Body Can Dance, ABCD 2. The film, starring
Varun Dhawan and
Shraddha Kapoor in the lead role, won the Big Entertainment Award for the Most Entertaining Social film. His other film credits include Banjo (2016) and
Nawabzaade (2018). His 2020 release includes
Street Dancer 3, directed by
Remo D`Souza.
