Jannisar Akhtar is a poet, dialogues and script writer and lyricist. Some of the famous fims for which he gave lyrics include Baap Re Baap (1955), Yasmin (1955), CID (1956), Rustom Sohrab (1963), Noorie (1979), Prem Parvat (1974), Shankar Hussain (1977), Razia Sultan etc. He was awarded Sahitya Akademi Award in Urdu and is the father of Javed Akhtar.
