Javier Aguirresarobe is a Spanish cinematographer. He has helmed the camera in over 65 films in a career spanning close to four decades, and has won several international awards. Aguirresarobe is a six-time winner of the Spanish National Film Awards, known popularly as the Goya Awards, and is known for his frequent collaborations with popular Spanish directors like Imanol Uribe, Montxo Armendariz, Alejandro Amenabar and Pedro Almodovar. Some of the veteran cinematographer`s best known works in Spanish include The Enchanted Forest (1987), Prince of Shadows (1991), Secrets of the Heart (1997) and The Sea Inside (2004).
His work in the 1991 crime film Prince of Shadows earned Aguirresarobe the Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Achievement at the Berlin International Film Festival that year, while the 2009 post-apocalyptic drama film The Road earned the cinematographer his maiden BAFTA Award nomination for Best Cinematography.
