Kal Penn, born as Kalpesh Suresh Modi, is an American actor, producer and civil servant. Kal was born in Montclair, New Jersey and attended the Freehold Regional High School District`s Performing Arts High School. He made his Hollywood debut in the short film Express: Aisle to Glory (1998). He then acted in a few hit television shows like Sabrina, The Teenage Witch and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Kal is known best for playing the role of Kumar Patel in the Harold and Kumar film series- Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle (2004), Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay (2008) and A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas (2011). He was also a part of super hit television shows like 24 and How I Met Your Mother. Apart from acting, Kal was an advocate for US President Barack Obama`s presidential campaign in 2007-08. In 2009, he was offered the position of Associate Director of the White House of Public Engagement in the Obama administration, which he accepted. Kal now has the film Bhopal:A Prayer of Rain lined up.
