Ketan Mehta is an Indian film director and writer. He was born in Gujarat, and graduated from Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. Mehta`s first venture, Bhavni Bhavai, a Gujarati film, won him widespread acclaim. Mirch Masala (1985) was one of Mehta`s notable efforts, which won him the Best Film Award at Hawaii. In a career spanning over three decades, he has directed 10 films, out of which Bhavni Bhavai (1981) and Sardar (1993) won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film. His most recent film was Rang Rasiya (2014), which was based on the famous Indian painter Raja Ravi Verma. Mehta`s next film is Manjhi- The Mountain Man which is set for an August 2015 release.
