Known for making hard-hitting movies that reflect reality as it is, Madhur Bhandarkar is a four-time National Award winning director, scriptwriter and producer. His journey in the film industry started when we worked in a video cassette library, giving him the opportunity to watch movies and fall for the art of filmmaking. After working as an assistant with several small-time filmmakers, Madhur got the opportunity to work with Ram Gopal Verma.

With his foot in the door, Madhur was able to direct his first feature film Trishakti (1999). While the movie was not received well, his second movie Chandni Bar (2001) shot him to success. It garnered him his first National Award and was a box office success. Over the years Madhur came to be included in India`s finest filmmakers, having made critically acclaimed films like Page 3 (2005), Traffic Signal (2007) and Fashion (2008). He has received numerous awards, been nominated as a member of the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, and has even represented India at film festivals. His more recent works include Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji (2011), Heroine (2012), and Calendar Girls (2015).
