Pulkit Samrat is an Indian model and actor who is best known for his role as Lakshya Virani in the popular TV show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. The character won him the Best fresh new face award at The Indian Telly Awards and Favorite Naya Sadasya at the Star Parivaar Awards. After being successful on TV, the Delhi lad made his acting debut on the big screen with the 2012 film Bittoo Boss directed by Supavitra Babul.

Early Life

Pulkit Samrat grew up in North West Delhi in a Hindu and Punjabi family. He attended Manav Sthali School and Monfort school in Ashok Vihar. He completed his Bachelor`s degree in Advertising from Apeejay Institute of Design. After completing his studies, he started working as a model and later moved to Mumbai to study acting and joined a course run by Kishore Namit Kapoor.

Personal Life

The handsome actor after dating broadcast journalist, Shweta Roharia, the Rakhi sister of Bollywood superstar, Salman Khan for several years, the couple got married in November 2014. After being married for a year, the duo split in 2015.

Acting Career

Pulkit Samrat moved to Mumbai in 2005 to study acting and in 2006 he made his acting debut in the popular TV show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi produced by Balaji Telefilms. His role as Lakshya Virani was well appreciated by the audience and the role was his claim to fame. Later, in 2011, the actor featured in Vaibhavi Merchant`s musical theatrical, Taj Express.

After establishing himself as an accomplished actor on the small screen, Pulkit Samrat made his debut on the big screen in 2012 with Bitto Boss. The movie, which also starred Amita Phatak, Suniel Shetty, Mohan Kapoor and Rajendra Sethi was a failure at the box office but Pulkit Samrat`s role as a Punjabi wedding videographer did not go unnoticed.

In 2013, the Bitto Boss actor featured in his second film, Fukrey, which was produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar. The movie, which also features Ali Fazal, Richa Chadda, Manjot Singh and Varun Sharma in pivotal roles opened to good reviews and was a hit. The actor next did a cameo in the 2014 super hit movie, Jai Ho starring Salman Khan, Daisy Shah, Tabu and Danny Denzongpa. In the same year, Pulkit Samrat played the lead in O Teri opposite Sarah-Jane Dias and Bilal Amrohi. The movie produced by Atul Agnihotri was a commercial and critical failure.

After a few failures at the start of his career, Pulkit Samrat got recognition for his role in Arbaaz Khan`s Romantic-comedy Dolly ki Dolli. The movie released in 2015 and it also had Sonam Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao in the lead roles. In the subsequent year, the actor starred in Divya Khosla Kumar`s 2016 movie Sanam Re opposite Yami Gautam. The film did well at the box office and Samrat got critical recognition. His other projects in 2016 include Junooniyat, the movie directed by Vivek Agnihotri also stars Yami Gautam. His 2020 release includes Taish. In 2021, he appeared alongside Rana Daggubati in the drama film Haathi Mere Saathi.
