Raja Krishna Menon was born in Trichur, Kerela, but spent his growing years in Bengaluru. He finished his bachelors majoring in Chemistry. He was an avid orator, quizzer and writer and won many college competitions. After graduating he assisted D. Radhakrishnan, an Ad filmmaker and a well renowned still photographer. He shifted base to Mumbai in 1993 and handled business for Sanjiv Khamgaonkar (Writer/Director). In 1996 he began editing commercials and creating trailers for Bollywood films like Raja Hindustani, Army and Loafer. He concentrated more on his advertising career and produced and directed over 300 TV commercials.

In 2003 he wrote, directed and produced his first feature film titled Bas Yun Hi starring Nandit Das and Purab Kohli. He continued with advertising from 2003 to 2008. In 2009 he wrote and directed his second feature film Barah Aana starring Naseeruddin Shah and Vijay Raaz. The film was a huge critical success. Barah Aana was the official selection in many international film festivals. Including being selected to North America`s oldest and one of the most prestigious film festival, The Chicago International Film Festival. Competing alongside cinema greats like Majid Majidi, and Von Kar Wai. Post films he continued to produce commercials and documentaries for the biggest in the business including Oglivy, JWT, Creative Land Asia, BBH, Ulka etc. in partnership with Janani Ravichandran under their banner `Bandra West Pictures`.His 2016 venture was Airlift starring Akshay Kumar and Nimrit Kaur in the lead.
