A trained mixed martial artist and kickboxer, Ritika Singh took to acting in 2016 with the bilingual sports drama
Saala Khadoos, which was also made in Tamil titled
Irudhi Suttru, opposite
R. Madhavan.
Early LifeThe Thane-born kick-boxer studied at the K. C. Gandhi English School in Kalyan. Under the guidance of her father, Ritika learnt kickboxing and mixed martial arts and made her first appearance as a national athlete at the 2009 Asian Indoor Games in the 52 kg category as a kick-boxer. Following this she competed in the inaugural season of mixed martial arts league Super Fight League in 2012.
Movie CareerHaving featured in an ad for the Super Fight League, she was noticed by director
Sudha Kongara Prasad who offered her a role in his 2016 sports drama
Saala Khadoos, which was also made in Tamil titled
Irudhi Suttru. For her performance opposite R. Madhavan in the Tamil version of her debut, she received a Special Mention at the National Film Awards. The sportsperson-turned-actor then appeared in the 2016 Tamil satirical movie
Aandavan Kattalai alongside
Vijay Sethupathi. Ritika was then signed for the Tamil horror comedy Shivalinga alongside Raghava Lawrence, and in the Telugu remake of her debut movie titled
Guru starring
Daggubati Venkatesh in the lead along with her, both of these movies release in 2017. Her 2020 release includes Oh My Kadavule.
