Early Life
Born in Ohio to Donald Knepper and Pat Deck, Robert Knepper spent most of his time performing in plays at a community theater. He was heavily inspired by his mother who worked at the same place. Post his high school education, Knepper enrolled himself in a drama school at Northwestern University and kickstarted his professional acting career by performing in various theatrical productions throughout Chicago. He then dropped out of school to move to New York City, where he did numerous plays to hone his acting skills.
Movie Career
In 1986, he stepped into the world of glamor with That's Life and starred in movies like Wild Thing, Made in Heaven, Renegades, Everyone Says I Love You. Always shuffling between television shows and movie, Knepper, in the middle of appearing in Prison Break also appeared in successful films such as Hostage, Good Night and Good Luck, Species III,
Hitman,
Transporter 3, and
The Day the Earth Stood Still. His 2016 release includes the action thriller film

Television Career
After making guest appearances on TV shows like The Twilight Zone, Star Trek: The Next Generation, ER and Law & Order, Knepper starred in his career-best role as the cunning, violent, and manipulative psychopath, Theodore "T-Bag" Bagwell in Prison Break. The role earned him a Satellite Award nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television in 2006. Post his successful stint on Prison Break, Knepper featured on various other shows such as Heroes, Criminal Minds, Cult, and Arrow.
