Writer and director Sasi Paravoor is primarily a part of the Malayalam film industry, making his debut in 2007 with the movie Nottam, which is based on Koodiyattam, a form of Sanskrit theatre. His debut was received with immense acclaim and was declared a hit. In 2010, he directed his next, the women-oriented Malayalam drama Kadaksham, which highlighted the societal pressures that women, still, find themselves under. His next project was the 2013 drama Cyber Cafe, starring Asif Ali and Samvritha Sunil in the lead. In 2017, Paravoor directed the family drama Crossroad, which, through the lives of ten women, attempts to celebrate womanhood.
