Television Career
He started his career under the mentorship of Prahlad Kakkar. He worked closely with television and was actively a part of the brand building exercises for SONY TV, especially SONY MAX. Pursuing his interest in filmmaking, Shujaat, directed a 60-minute TV movie titled Bali in 2004, which went on to win Best Film at the Hero Honda Indian Television Academy Awards in 2005.
Movie Career
After making his directorial debut in 2004 with the TV movie, Shujaat directed Belle de jour in 2011 for which he won the prestigious Spike Gold at the Spikes Asia. In 2016, the directed made his Bollywood debut with the movie
Rock On 2, the sequel to the 2008 movie Rock On!!, which sees
Farhan Akhtar,
Arjun Rampal,
Purab Kohli, and
Prachi Desai reprising their roles, whereas
Shraddha Kapoor and
Shashank Arora are new additions to the franchise.
