The younger brother of actor Vicky Kaushal, Sunny made his Bollywood debut with a central role in the comedy-drama road film Sunshine Music Tours & Travels in 2016. Following this, he essayed the role of Himmat Singh in the 2018 sports drama Gold, which was directed by Reema Kagti and starred Akshay Kumar. The film, which recounted the story behind India`s first Olympic gold medal as a free nation, has Sunny essaying a character loosely based on yesteryear hockey player and Olympian Balbir Singh Dosanjh. His 2020 release includes Bhangra Paa Le, directed by Sneha Taurani. His other notable works inlcude Shiddat (2021) alongside Radhika Madan and Hurdang with Nushrratt Bharuccha and Vijay Varma. He then starred in Mili (2023) with Janhvi Kapoor.
