Yash Johar (Yash) was an Indian Bollywood producer, born on September 6, 1929 in Amritsar (India). He was married to Hiroo Yash Johar and was the father of director and producer Karan Johar. He made his debut with Mujhe Jeene Do (1963). His other early works include Dev Anand`s Guide (1965). Later he launched his own production banner Dharma Productions, in 1976, which is one of the biggest production houses in the country today. The first film under this banner was Dostana (1980). It was followed by some of his most popular works including
Agneepath (1990),
Duplicate (1998),
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998),
Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001) and
Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), all of which have an iconic place in Hindi cinema even today. Johar passed away on 26 June 2004.
