About the movie
Set in the 30s, the Santhosh Sivan-directed, Merchant Ivory production is about a young man (Rahul Bose) who is torn between his ambitions for the future and the momentum-gaining Nationalist Movement that is enrolling all freedom-lovers. Moreover, his Brit boss (Linus Roache) and fellow villager (Nandita Das) get into a forbidden romance, that the village quickly learns about.
